1. To mean business - myslet něco smrtelné vážně (doopravdy)
We didn't take his threat seriously at first but now I can see he means business.
I want to show them I mean business.

2. To get to the bottom of something - dostat se věci na kloub
I couldn't get to the bottom of the mystery.
Who is it who is stealing my sweets. I really want to get to the bottom of this.

3. Down and out - bez práce a obvykle i bez domova
He was down and out for years.
It seems to me that there are more down-and-outs in Prague than ever.

4. To throw somebody off balance - vyvést někoho z rovnováhy, z míry
Just thinking about it throws me off balance.
Peter was thrown completely off balance when he was summoned to the court.

5. To look somebody in the eye - podívat se někomu přímo do očí
Can you look me in the eye and tell me it's true?.
Look me in the eye and tell me you're not lying.
